A New Page
Welcome to the Longview Public Library's first adventure in blogging! You will hear much more from our wonderful Youth Services Librarian, so this is just a small introduction. The LPL Kids blog will be the place to come for the latest news and tidbits about all the exciting things that happen here in Youth Services. Since this is a brand new area for us, we'll be trying things out to see what works. If you have any ideas you would like to share--about this blog, about the LPL website, and about the library itself--please be sure to let us know! Also, if you're familiar with newsreaders, be sure to subscribe to our feed.

Wow!! I'm so excited to finally have a blog for us! Especially when we have so much exciting stuff happening on the ground floor of the library (and I'm NOT just talking about getting the elevator repaired!) :)
Read any good books lately? (or heard a great CD/watched a DVD so bad you want to warn the world?) Check out our new online reviews at:

1. Go Bananas!! Our Literacy Week party blasts off on Tuesday night, 6:30 February 28, where Curious George meets the Literacy Pirates for an evening of bananas, monkeys and "reading with the good eye"! It's all free and no registrations!
2. More Literacy Week programs on Sunday, 2/26, 2-4 p.m. at the LCC Student Center, and at the library on Thursday, March 2, 10:30 a.m. and Friday, March 3, 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 4, 2 p.m.
3. Our Teen Read-a-thon will be on Tuesday, March 7, 6:30 - 8: 30 p.m. It's not too late to sign up to read or make a tax-deductible donation of $50 to sponsor a chair! Visit this page:

4. Another special event coming up is an Arbor Day Tree planting celebration on March 12. We are proud to have been selected as a national Arbor Day event as a result of our "Vote For Trees!" campaign.
